Couples Tribute: Leah + Mike

untitled(143of769)

Leah and Mike’s wedding day held at Celebrate Snug Harbor was a very special day.  Snug Harbor has been a part of Leah’s life before she was even born. Leah’s parents were married here and as a little girl Leah took art classes at the art school.  When it came time to propose Mike knew Snug Harbor was the perfect spot to begin the rest of their lives together.  Once engaged, Leah and Mike started planning their wedding at Celebrate Snug Harbor with help from Marissa Mortimer of Lavish Occasions Event Planning.

Leah and Mike’s wedding was timeless and elegant, but also true to the nature of Snug Harbor.  Leah and Mike let the beautiful scenery of Snug Harbor inspire them for decor and the overall vibe of their wedding. From a Tuscan Garden ceremony with classic floral arrangements of soft pinks and green hues to a dreamy reception in the Great Hall, their day was stress-free and full of romance.

Fall Centerpieces

Whether you’re having an indoor or outdoor wedding this fall, you have unlimited options when it comes to rustic fall centerpieces. Drawing inspiration from Martha Stewart Weddings, we’re highlighting our favorite do’s for your fall centerpiece. From fall produce to colors and textures, you can’t go wrong for your autumn wedding.

Use seasonal fruit

The fall is an amazing time to use seasonal produce in more than just your menu. The top photo of the featured collage showcases soft greens and blush flowers surrounded by fall fruits like eggplants and apples. The bottom left photo infuses persimmons with the burgundy and orange leaves. The bottom right photo highlights the stylist’s use of artichokes, peaches and figs to surround the candles set up in the center of the table. Deliciously beautiful!

Fall Fruit Centerpiece Collage

Let color be your guide

Fall is an amazing time of year for foliage and deep colors. The left photo of the featured collage highlights the use of blush roses and deep red flowers to contrast one another, making them the focal point of the table. The top right photo uses varied purple hues with blush and green leaves to compliment one another. If you’re going for a simpler, yet elegant contrast, the bottom right photo uses single stem white flowers with smaller, darker, and grouped flowers for a variation of fall elements.

Color Contrast Collage Fall Centerpieces

Make it all about texture

Consider using varied textures to enhance the rustic tone of the fall season. The top left photo of the collage features soft flowers placed in a charming birch log. The top right photo uses just the flowers to vary in texture, with gentle pink flowers surrounded by velvet green leaves. The bottom left photo uses a rustic wooden box to hold grouped wildflowers in a mason jar. Another creative way to play with textures is to isolate them, as seen in the bottom right photo. This centerpiece keeps green leaves in one vase and orange blooms in a separate vase. By placing the candle and succulent in the center, each texture is able to stand out at this beautiful table.

Textured Collage Centerpieces for Fall

It’s easy to get lost in the world of fall florals. Consult with your Event Designer and see which type of centerpiece best fits your wedding venue. At Celebrate at Snug Harbor, you can have both indoor and outdoor spaces to hit all of the fall elements for your special day!

Wedding Shoes You’ll Love

It is so important to feel glamorous on your wedding day. Although your wedding gown is typically the main attraction, don’t forget that the shoes always make the look! For your wedding shoes, we recommend narrowing down your options by focusing on what matters most to you: going classic, making your shoes your something blue, or having a unique, yet elegant look with a flat shoe for your wedding day. Either way, you can’t go wrong with these stunning looks!

Going Classic

When choosing a classic look, make sure your shoes match the dress in terms of color and material. The left photo in the featured collage below showcases an open toe sandal from Betsy Johnson’s Blue collection, with jewels embellished on the open toe sandal. The top right photo is a Dolce & Gabbana closed-toe lace shoe with jewels at the tip. The bottom right shoe is a stunning classic satin toe pump by Jimmy Choo. Gorgeous for any bride looking to have a classic wedding look!

Classic Wedding Shoes

Your Something Blue

Don’t be afraid to have some fun with your wedding shoes. Instead of worrying about inserting your something blue in a hairpin or sewn in your dress, let your something blue pop on your feet! The featured collage highlights your options. The top left photo is a suede sandal by Pierre Hardy with gold hardware. The bottom left shoe is a satin mule by Attico with jewels on the front. The top right photo is a stunning satin flat by Manolo Blahnik with the jewel embellished upper. The bottom right photo is an open toe suede sandal with pearls and jewels cascading the heel and foot arch by Stuart Weitzman. There is no wrong shade of blue to make this look work!

Something Blue Shoes

Elegant Flats

If you’re a bride who plans on dancing the night away, then consider a unique flat that says “bride!” The top photo featured in the collage is a collaboration by Keds & Kate Spade New York. This Champion Glitter Sneaker is all sparkles with satin laces to match the bridal look of the evening. You can also go for a lace flat, like the beautiful Valentino ballet flat with a gold studded cord. The bottom left photo is a pretty metallic sandal by Nicholas Kirkwood, with pearls around the edge of the small heel to match any bridal accessories.

Flats for Weddings

Your wedding shoes should not be a last minute purchase. This is the item that will make your wedding ensemble complete, so think about your style, color, heel, and material. Once you have the dress, your shoe options are unlimited so have fun with the selection process!

Couples Tribute: Maggy & Marcus

Snug Harbor Wedding Photos

When Marcus proposed to Maggy they made a large list of wedding venues that they found to be interesting. These two soon-to-be architects looked at everything from old houses to lofts to arboretums to Celebrate Snug Harbor.  After seeing three wedding venues in person it was on a cold December day that they stood in the Chinese Scholar Garden looked at each other and said, “I think we found it”. They set their wedding date for May 26th, 2017.

Maggy and Marcus picked Snug Harbor because they both love nature, and wanted to incorporate both of their cultures in small ways.  Maggy is also an artist and a lover of all things nature and watercolor. To them Celebrate Snug Harbor felt like it a hidden gem, without a worry of the big NYC crowds.  They truly felt like everything at Snug Harbor was the perfect backdrop for their wedding day.

Maggy was a stunning Bride in a Sottero and Midgley dress from RK Bridal while her bridesmaids all wore different shades of blue gowns from Amsale and Lulu’s.

Their beautiful ceremony took place in the Tuscan Garden followed by cocktail hour in the Chinese scholar’s garden.

Snug Harbor Wedding Photos

Maggy wanted to incorporate a lot of artsy things with DIY’s elements.  They went with mostly greens, pastels colors and gold accents.  With doing this they created a feel throughout their entire day as if you were in an English Artist’s garden.

The big project for both of us was building our arch from scratch which the florist decorated the day of, Marcus is pretty good with woodwork so it was great to infuse both of our talents in our wedding.  Having these projects over the span of our long 22-month long engagement was actually a ton of fun.

Their florist Wild Floral Designs did all the beautiful centerpieces, the large sweet heart table garland, and all other garlands, the arch the aisle decor.  All the personal flowers like bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, flowers for Maggy’s hair, and even a dog wreath for our husky ring bearer.

Snug Harbor Wedding Photos

Maggy herself designed their invitations, programs, seating chart, menus and the table numbers. She hand-painted their escort cards, painted the bar signs that featured their signature drinks, did the calligraphy wherever needed, painted the welcome sign and direction signs, made the watercolor paper flower backdrop (with help from friends and Marcus) Maggy even hand made her veil from scratch and painted it with acrylic and gold leaf instead of using lace.

Maggy and Marcus had a beautiful wedding reception in the tented pavilion.  Their guests enjoyed watching them share their first dance to “Love is here to stay” by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.
